TECC is a Public Private Academia Partnership (PPAP) Trust established by the National Economic Empowerment Council (on behalf of Government), Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (on behalf of Private Sector) and Commission for Science and Technology (on behalf of Academia); and got registered in April 2013. The overall Goal of TECC is to contribute to reduction of income poverty among MSMEs in the country. In achieving this goal we use two main approaches.
TECC mandate is entrepreneurship development and enhancing competitiveness of the local MSMEs in Tanzania and since its establishment in 2013, the institution has designed and delivered customized supports to various segments mainly women and youth. In 2017 TECC was engaged by the KCB-Bank (T) Ltd to train 315 entrepreneurs in 6 regions before they could receive further support from the bank. Since 2015, TECC has provided practical business support (combining training, mentoring and links to finance and networks) to more than 1638 youth entrepreneurs in 6 regions to start/expand their businesses through well-designed and delivered programs supported by various donors, mainly corporates.
The youth programmes have resulted in creation of 410 new businesses and 644 businesses were supported to grow that have created 127 new jobs and enabled youth to improve their incomes and lives. In addition, TECC has gathered practical experiences and lessons that are used to innovate on future products (training packages), quality of trainers (accrediting trainers) and delivery approaches so as to optimize the results of our support.
